Taking care of others

Certified Advanced Open Water Divers are recommended to increase their responsibility toward other divers. Many dives take place in remote areas. Often other divers are the only persons present on the location of the dive. If an emergency arises, somebody has to act. Courses that teach you to handle emergencies are for that reason recommended for all divers. As a matter of fact – it is best to take all three courses on this subject combined in a single package – the Safety Package.

The Rescue Diver course teaches you how to help a diver in trouble. The course consists of 10 skill sessions and 4 accident scenarios. The theory is aimed at the prevention of diving emergencies. The Oxygen First Aid Specialty teaches you the medical background and the technical considerations of giving oxygen as a first aid procedure for divers. The Emergency First Response course is a general first aid course that does not specifically address diving related emergencies, but is required for all diver certifications starting at the Rescue Diver level.

Completing the Rescue Diver Course opens the way to the highest recreational diver certification – Master Scuba Diver. It is also a prerequisite course to become a diving professional such as a Divemaster or an Instructor.
